The skill of saying 'No' - Uncovered.

Do you feel like you're in an endless struggle of egos with your little one, that you're not getting the right response from them, that you keep losing your cool and lashing out or just giving in to their demands, and that your relationship with them is best described as one filled with conflicts and confrontations? If most of your interaction with your child is negative and disciplinary, your connection with them may suffer. Overusing the word 'No' might take you down this road. "No" is a powerful word that is easy to utter and quick on the lips. Your child will frequently hear you use this term, and you will listen to it from your child. A parent must learn to say "no" to a kid so the youngster can subsequently say "no" to himself. Delaying gratification is difficult for all children and some adults. "I want it now,", especially in toddlers, is a motivating need. Accepting "no" from others is a prerequisite...

Life in Mumbai - Part 5

So, keeping track with  the fun, spending long hours @ Juhu Beach was something we always looked forward to.  Though it was quite a distance from our home, we liked the journey both ways. That is, going by train and riding back on the Mumbai famous double-decker bus. We used to try our best to find a place on the upper deck and that too in the front. The feeling of sitting there would be like a bird flying through the streets filled with lights, sounds and traffic. Okay, now, how can we forget the binge eating on the beach.  It was always difficult to choose between so many varieties of food items available.  But finally we would lay our hands on our all time favourite, Bhelpuri, Pavbhaji, Ragda patties and Ice gold. Hey hold on, I  hope you're not thinking that we had all of these at one go. I meant that we had different choices at different times.

Essel World.  Yes, the biggest amusement park in India, after Delhi's Appu Ghar, started with a big bang on an island in Gorai creek.  To reach there, one had to go through a ferry boat. It was absolute fun. The dangerously exciting rides, the walk through the park and food joints decorating the side walks opened a whole new world for us. The water park with it's number of rides and a splashing wave pool was breathtaking.

Life in Mumbai was full of amazing things. The fast pace of lifestyle and development in Mumbai  always created a sense  of excitement and curiosity as to what' s going to happen next. The city grew in leaps and bounds to entice the people living in it. We were also ready to embrace our future with open hands in our most beloved place on earth.

I was  nearing the end of my graduation and my sister was nearing the end of her school life by preparing for 10th boards. Pondering over the various avenues that lay ahead of us took most of our time.  A young and an inexperienced mind wonders and wanders over the abundant possibilities of career and our future life. Me and my sister  had so many wonderful thoughts about our time to come. Never once did any negative thought crossed our mind. We were happy revelling in our own world of opportunities.
But Man proposes and God disposes.  Not a single soul in Mumbai had thought about the riots and bomb blasts that would tear Mumbai to pieces.  Fear of death, feeling of insecurity and an urge to escape the terror took hold of the city.

And we were not left behind in that urge to escape from this fearful place and move towards our native in kutch.

Leaving the glamour and excitement of Mumbai had been a blow under the belt. As good children and too young at that time, we were not able to express to our  parents, the feeling of deep grief that we had for leaving Mumbai, never to see it again, never  to feel it again and leaving behind us a part of our own self torn from us with brutality.

It was the biggest turning point of our lives and our minds and hearts slipped into a state of coma. Not being able to think about what we will do in Bhuj, our native.  Hideous thoughts about our education, career, social interactions, limited knowledge of our mother tongue and most importantly the lousiest place on earth for us  - Bhuj crowded our minds.

Destiny does not leave anyone. So our destiny took us to Bhuj.
